Adiabatic computing using 2-local Hamiltonians on a line

Published 2013-10-14, updated 2013-12-06Version 2

Here we consider the power of a line of quantum particles under a nearest-neighbor 2-local Hamiltonian. Currently, it has been shown that 8-state particles are sufficient for universal adiabatic computing. We improve this result to show that 7-state particles are sufficient.
