$D_{sJ}(2860)$ resonance and the $s_\ell^P={5\over 2}^-$ $c \bar s$ ($c \bar q$) doublet

We analyze the recently discovered $D_{sJ}(2860)$ meson using arguments based on the heavy quark expansion together with the experimental observations. We consider the possible quantum number assignments, arguing that the interpretation of the meson as the $J^P=3^-$ $c \bar s$ state is favoured.
