Full groups of bounded automaton groups

We show that any group generated by a bounded activity automaton can be embedded in a finitely generated, simple amenable group. The proof is based on the study of the topological full group for the action of the mother group of bounded activity on its Schreier dynamical system. We show that the topological full group of this action is amenable and has a finitely generated simple subgroup in which the mother group embeds.
