We focus on an angular-momentum-conserving variant of the method and report test results for the nucleus $^{48}Cr$. The calculation is able to reproduce both the ground state energy and the energy of the first excited state, by diagonalizing matrices much smaller than those of the full shell model.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2006-01-16T13:56:40.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "21.60.Cs", "05.10.Cc" ], "keywords": [ "nuclear shell model", "large-scale nuclear shell-model problems", "solving large-scale nuclear shell-model", "density matrix renormalization group method" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Phys.
