Using all available data on the polarized structure function $g_1(x,Q^2)$, we determine these distributions both at leading and next-to-leading order in perturbation theory. We suggest three different, equally possible scenarios for the polarized gluon distribution, which is found to be only loosely constrained by current experimental data. We examine various possibilities of measuring polarized parton distributions at future experiments.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "1995-12-22T16:14:42.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "13.60.Hb", "13.60.Le", "13.88.+e" ], "keywords": [ "polarized parton distribution functions", "current experimental data", "polarized structure function", "measuring polarized parton distributions", "perturbation theory" ], "tags": [ "journal article", "famous paper" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Phys.
