The size of the extra dimension depends on time. It is small compared to the size of the universe only if the energy of gravitational self-interaction of the universe through the compact extra dimension dominates over all other kinds of energy. The self-interaction energy gives the main contribution into the Friedmann equation, which governs the dynamics of the scale factor of the universe.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "1999-11-30T19:03:04.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "04.50.+h", "98.80.-k" ], "keywords": [ "cosmological models", "compact extra dimension dominates", "extra dimension depends", "dimensional surface", "gravitational self-interaction" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 13, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 510922 } } }
