By considering the contributions from $s$- and $u$-channel nucleon pole and $N^{*}(1535)$ resonance, the total and differential cross sections of the $\\pi^- p \\to \\eta n$ reaction near threshold are calculated. Our theoretical results can fairly reproduce the current experimental data. It is also shown that while the center-of-mass energy lies in the range from the reaction threshold up to $1.65$ GeV, $s$-channel $N^{*}(1535)$ resonance plays the dominant role. The effect from nucleon pole is found to be small but the interference terms between the $N^*(1535)$ resonance and the nucleon pole are significant. The contributions from $t$-channel processes are negligible in the present calculation.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2013-12-20T03:11:49.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "13.75.Gx" ], "keywords": [ "effective lagrangian approach", "current experimental data", "channel nucleon pole", "center-of-mass energy lies", "differential cross sections" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1142/S0217732314500126", "journal": "Modern Physics Letters A", "year": 2014, "month": "Jan", "volume": 29, "number": 4, "pages": 1450012 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 5, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 1273463, "adsabs": "2014MPLA...2950012L" } } }
