The shell model Monte Carlo method provides a powerful technique to carry out such calculations using the framework of the configuration-interaction shell model in spaces that are many orders of magnitude larger than spaces that can be treated by conventional methods. We present recent applications of the method to the calculation of level densities and their collective enhancement factors in heavy nuclei. The calculated level densities are in close agreement with experimental data.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2013-05-24T02:48:24.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "shell model monte carlo method", "heavy nuclei", "calculation", "nuclear level densities", "configuration-interaction shell model" ], "tags": [ "conference paper", "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1016/j.nds.2014.04.045", "journal": "Nuclear Data Sheets", "year": 2014, "month": "Apr", "volume": 118, "pages": 233 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 4, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 1235456, "adsabs": "2014NDS...118..233A" } } }
