We also propose a one-to-one map between BPS states in d-dimensional field theories and states that contribute to the supersymmetric partition function of a corresponding (d-1)-dimensional field theory. As an application we obtain the superconformal index on rounded and squashed three spheres, and we show a natural reduction of the respective indices to the three-dimensional exact partition functions. We discuss the validity of the correspondence both at the perturbative and at the non-perturbative level and exploit the idea to uplift the computation of the exact supersymmetric partition function on a general manifold to a higher dimensional index.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2012-11-20T10:48:48.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "bps states", "exact supersymmetric partition function", "three-dimensional exact partition functions", "d-dimensional field theories", "higher dimensional index" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1007/JHEP08(2013)011", "journal": "Journal of High Energy Physics", "year": 2013, "month": "Aug", "volume": 2013, "pages": 11 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 25, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2013JHEP...08..011A", "inspire": 1202518 } } }
