They are concerned with an approximate treatment of the Coulomb exchange terms (known as the Slater approximation) in the self-consistent mean fields and the projection on good parity states (e.g., of positive parity for the spontaneous fission of an even-even nucleus) of left-right reflection asymmetric intrinsic solutions (e.g., around the second barrier). Approximate or unprojected solutions are shown to lead each to an underestimation of the barrier heights by a few hundred keV.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2012-10-03T15:30:02.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "21.60.Jz", "25.85.Ca", "25.85.-w" ], "keywords": [ "fission barriers", "heavy nuclei", "microscopic studies", "left-right reflection asymmetric intrinsic solutions", "coulomb exchange terms" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1142/S0218301312500516", "journal": "International Journal of Modern Physics E", "year": 2012, "month": "May", "volume": 21, "number": 5, "pages": 1250051 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 1189220, "adsabs": "2012IJMPE..2150051N" } } }
