The former two concepts are closely connected, the relation being that the quasi-spin formalism allows an efficient solution of the pairing problem. Seniority is of much wider applicability than either pairing or quasi-spin and applications can even be extended to encompass the notion of partial symmetry. A recent application of partial conservation of seniority and its importance for nuclear isomers is discussed.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2010-12-09T09:58:23.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "partial conservation", "application", "efficient solution", "quasi-spin algebras", "partial symmetry" ], "tags": [ "conference paper", "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1142/S021830131101751X", "journal": "International Journal of Modern Physics E", "year": 2011, "volume": 20, "number": 2, "pages": 191 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 8, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 880199, "adsabs": "2011IJMPE..20..191V" } } }
