We find that the spectrum of the spin edge states depends critically on the orientation of the sample edges with respect to the crystallographic axes. Such a strikingly different spectral behavior generates new modes of the persistent spin helix-spin edge helices with novel properties, which can be tuned by the applied electric and magnetic fields.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2010-10-08T20:54:24.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "72.25.-b", "72.15.Gd", "85.75.-d" ], "keywords": [ "perpendicular magnetic field", "persistent spin helix-spin edge helices", "spin edge states depends" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2010, "month": "Oct", "volume": 105, "number": 18, "pages": 186601 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2010PhRvL.105r6601B" } } }
