Predictions from the random phase approximation (RPA) and the shell model in a no-core basis are compared. It is found that the inclusion of configuration mixing up to two-particle--two-holes broadens the pygmy strength slightly and reduces sensibly its strength, as compared to the RPA predictions. For Ar-32 a clear peak associated with a pygmy resonance is found. For Ar-34, the pygmy states are obtained close to the giant dipole resonance and mix with it.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2007-12-19T18:55:33.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "24.10.Cn", "21.60.Cs", "21.60.Ev", "24.30.Gd", "21.10.Gv" ], "keywords": [ "random phase approximation", "proton rich argon", "pygmy dipole response", "correlator operator method interaction vucom", "unitary correlator operator method interaction" ], "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 776558, "adsabs": "2007arXiv0712.3254B" } } }
