This is a standard spintronics tool and it gives access to the spin lifetime of samples in which spins are generated homogeneously. We examine the Hanle effect when spins are generated at a boundary of a diffusive sample by the extrinsic spin Hall effect. We show that the Hanle curve is spatially dependent and that the \"apparent\" spin lifetime, given by its inverse half-width, is shorter near the boundary even if the spin relaxation rate is homogenous.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2007-07-25T15:13:32.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "72.25.Rb", "72.25.Dc", "72.25.Fe" ], "keywords": [ "hanle effect", "extrinsic spin hall effect", "spin lifetime", "standard spintronics tool", "spin relaxation rate" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2008, "month": "Mar", "volume": 77, "number": 12, "pages": 125302 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 4, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2008PhRvB..77l5302E" } } }
